People know how much I do. As a full time freelance writer, I can spend 16 hours a day working. But to me it’s not work most of the time. Answering emails is work. Other non-writing aspects of earning a living the way I do is work. But actually writing my books and articles? That’s pleasure!!
Living a passion driven life is living to the fullest. Pushing yourself through the drudgery of a job that just pays the bills and gives no pleasure is wasting a lot of time for me. I work longer hours than most people. Weekends too! But it’s my choice and I’m delighted to be able to make it. People tell me I work too much. I’ve had boyfriends scold me with reasons why I shouldn’t work so hard. That’s often the kiss of death for one if he doesn’t understand:
When you love what you do, you can’t get enough of it!
I looked up the definition of “work” in several dictionaries and got versions of—using exertion or effort to produce or accomplish something. For me, exertion or effort is more often something I use to pull myself away from my computer. When your work is passion driven, it doesn’t feel like work. It’s play, fun, satisfying, and many other positive adjectives.
Luciano Pavarotti said, "People think I'm disciplined. It is not discipline. It is devotion. There is a great difference."

That’s how I feel about my writing and also my speaking. I love to share my thoughts and lessons with others. Having been blessed with a chance to turn my life around, it’s fabulous to be able to help others through my “work.”
It’s never too late to have a happy life. If you’re not happy, think about what could change that. If you didn’t feel too old or unskilled or lacking something else, what would you ideally want to do? You can find a way to do it if you want to. I’m proof of that! I got my college degree in Liberal Arts, which prepared me for nothing. Now I’m one of the top music industry writers and consultants. I also have a fabulous career in writing and speaking about self-empowerment. I invented myself while everyone said I was too old. Past college age and lacking experience and skills. But I learned.
Now I’m deliriously happy every day!
Find your passion and pursue it with a vengeance! Don’t just pass time like I did for too many years when I lived in DoorMatville. Be the best you can be with what you have and don’t take CAN’T seriously. I was the first white female rapper because my students said I couldn’t rap. I started a successful record label while folks laughed at my ambition. You CAN make a choice to find a happy path. It begins with identifying what you’d love to do, and making a plan to get there. Enjoy the ride! ☺

You may not know me but I can really relate to your experiences that you have gone through, though not in the same industry as you are.
I too enjoy working so much with my computer, and I also agree with you that, when you are working your passion, it is not work anymore but a pleasure. I am glad to read this post, cos I thought I was weird to be working 10 over hours everyday but now I know I am not the only one :)

I think the same way you did before you found your passion. Even though I am bored with my current career I think I have to stick with it b/c I am to old to change careers now and I am not educated in other fields. But why not just change? If I am driven then I will be successful in whatever new career I try. Thanks for the advice.
